FAQs

What makes your coffee "specialty coffee'?

For coffee to be classed as "specialty coffee" it has to pass through many tests to ensure the highest quality. This starts from the farmers dedicating their life to produce only the best quality harvest, to the green coffee buyer with an insane palate and then all the way down to the roaster who ensures they are bringing out those flavour notes.

To be specialty coffee there can only be so many defects and the roasted coffee will be given a cupping score that must be above 80 (out of 100).

We share the scores of all our coffees so you can be sure it's only scored the best :)

What does SIngle Origin mean?

Single origin means that the coffee has come from one place only and by this we dont just mean the country i.e. Colombia. If a coffee is Single Origin it means it has come from a specific region, town and farm. This is great as it means the coffee can be traced right back to where it came from. It's good to be transparent about where our coffee has come from and ackowledge the farmers who harvested the crop.

Can your packaging be recycled?

Yes! Please remove the tin tie and recycle the bag with your paper waste. The tin tie can be recycled too!

Go to our Packaging page to find more information.

Is your business eco friendly?

Yes! We spent a lot of time looking for paper bags that would reduce plastic waste but also ensure freshness for our coffee. The companies we purchase from are also very eco friendly.

Any inks used on our products are also vegan/plant based.

We like to give away our coffee chaff to people as this is full of nutrients and is perfect for your garden soil.

We also have some exciting things we are working on for the future!

How should I store my coffee?

If you are able to purchase a coffee container (such as an Airscape) we would recommend this.

If you don't own a coffee canister, we would recommend keeping it in a cool dark place. Please do not refridgerate your coffee!

Keep your coffee tightly wrapped in its bag; ideally stored in a container too and kept from as much air exposure as possible. It's important to do this especially if your coffee has been ground.

How should I grind my coffee?

Firstly, for anyone grinding their coffee at home we would highly recommend having a grinder with burrs and not blades. Blades create an uneven grind affecting the taste of your coffee.

Secondly, this all depends on how you brew your coffee! For example, for a cafetiere you would need your coffee ground more coarse. Whereas grinding coffee for espresso machines would be much finer.
